This week's Entrepreneur of the Week is Celeste Knickerbocker, a mind-body fitness professional based in Los Angeles. She has extensive training in the Pilates & GYROTONIC® methods, and combine that with a strong foundation in dance, fitness, and bodywork, She considers herself a ‘Movement Therapy’ practitioner. Celeste genuinely believes that she is doing her part to make the world a happier place, one body at a time -- and she is fortunate to constantly see the tangible validation of its effectiveness. Surrounded by music, dance, art, and the great outdoors since childhood, Celeste considers movement to be the backbone of her life. Through Celeste's studies of various exercises, movement disciplines, and healing art concepts – combined with a keen eye, natural empathy, and holistic approach – she has nurtured body and soul while developing a successful practice as a fitness instructor hoping to empower and inspire women and men all over the world. Erika's Journey to TactileErika Velazquez Alpern is the founder of Tactile, a creative agency driven by a mission to shape better futures for female leaders. Additionally, Erika serves as the VP, Marketing & Communications for the New Republic, where she oversees brand development, communications and PR, digital marketing, events, and revenue marketing. Prior to joining the New Republic and launching Tactile, Erika led brand marketing for the Guardian and led brand marketing for NewsCred. Before that, Erika led the AOL Artists program, where she created a network of 110 emerging artists and commissioned digital art for the AOL brand and for advertisers. While there, she led the launch of FriendsWithYou at the High Line, a 1-month public art installation, as well as partnerships with organizations, including New Museum, Tumblr, Northside Festival, and The Whitney. Before entering the media world, Erika worked in the arts and as an independent curator. Veronica Amick-Becerra's JourneyRaised in Virginia Beach, Veronica launched her career in reality TV production in Denver. She was involved with such well know networks like HGTV, Food Network, DIY and Fine Living Network, doing Research/Development, Casting and Associate Producing. She has a BFA in Cinema from Columbia College Hollywood, where she studied Directing and Producing and has produced numerous shorts (one by actor/director Matt Walsh); numerous music videos; as well as branded content for Mattel and Quiznos. For three years, she worked as a department head on the NBC hit series, The Voice, where she lead a crew of more than sixty and managed a $5 million budget. |
